(male announcer) live from the bay area here is your kron 4 news >> breaking news story out of oakland and amber alert issued statewide. looking for a one-year-old girl who was taken by her father who is believed to be armed and dangerous. the suspect is easily identified he is 6 ft. 4 and 240 lbs.. he is driving a 19737 chevy flat bed pickup truck. they got into an argument and the mother tried to leave with the little girl. the house and chase them down with the truck rammed a car and

there is a child we want to locate the child and make sure that they are not in harm's way at all. >> how long ago did you locate the suspect? >> he actually contacted the department. he said that he wanted to share his side of the story. investigators are interviewing him to verify exactly what happened. our priority right now is we need to find out if they have a child. that we have questions and we're looking for answers. >> what area are you searching for the child and right now? >> right now we are interviewing the father and the mother. we are verifying if they do or do not have a child. i can tell you that in the mother's child there was in the mother's car there was no child seat. >> there is a strange story because we even have a description of the child

oakland this morning after a one-year-old girl was abducted, maybe. there's some question about that. mike pelton is on the scene at oakland police headquarters. >> the amber alert is now canceled because there was no kid. the child was totally made by the mother. it is turned into a very bizarre story this morning. it all began around 1230 this morning. authorities say a woman called police and reported that her husband named kim toll-free at been physically abusive and during the altercation she tried to leave the home with her one-year-old girl. when she tried bleeding in her car, according to her and he ran her car and kidnapped her one-year-old daughter and took off in a chevy flatbed truck. based on that information the authorities issued an amber alert. they have been looking for the child all

morning long. this is where it's bizarre. at some point the suspect called police and said i know you are looking for me, i will come in and tell my side of the story. he voluntarily surrendered himself and said they never had a child. the one-year-old girl did not exist. the mother however was adamant there was a child. this but police in a peculiar position. about 15 minutes ago people working for the police department came out and told us after investigating this further and speaking with the mother and going inside the home it occurred that the child did not and does not exist. they canceled the amber alert. at this point, more questions remain. they are still talking with cam toll-free to determine if any by let happened this morning. there also speaking with his wife to determine why she made up the child. what motivated her to do this? at this point, authorities are not
